Future Shipwreck began in 2007 as a space to share the music and movies I loved, write about being a working class teenager in L.A.’s entertainment industry, and post pictures of my boyfriend. Ever since breaking ground on my Simpsons fan page in the 4th grade (Geocities for life), I’ve been a fan of cyber-communing via shared cultural experience. I relish the thrill of discovering rad art, and Future Shipwreck is about sharing that thrill.

Future Shipwreck granted me the privilege of interviewing the artists I admire, and soon I found myself writing words and taking pictures for places like Giant Robot and The Advocate. Throughout 2009, I wrote for Spike Jonze’s art blog, We Love You So.

When We Love You So ended, I invited some of my favorite writers to contribute to Future Shipwreck, including Indiana-based cultural theorist/RuPaul philosopher Dan Rosplock, film crtic and brilliant memoirist, Dave White, and Synchronicity Space co-curator Katie Vonderheide. I made some short documentaries about artists for the site, and teamed up with New American Paintings to grant intimate glimpses into the creative lives of artists and gallerists in L.A.

Future Shipwreck in its latest incarnation continues to capture conversations with intriguing and inspiring individuals, highlight rad art, and feature my own work in video, photography and printmaking. Join us on the journey!
